10 Beauty Secret Hacks Models DON’T Want You to Know!

It’s amazing that every time when I do some research about the beauty hacks, there are always some new hacks I found. Girls are just creative and the most amazing part is these hacks really work! My last two articles about How to be prettier get really good shares so I figured why not do makeup and skincare from models? So here’s my conclusion after the research, enjoy!

1. Use Red Lipstick to Neutralize Dark Circles

I battle with dark circles my entire life. It’s just annoying because even when I already using a high-quality eye concealer, the dark circles still obvious. If you have a serious dark circle like me, you should use the eye correction concentrate before applying your concealer. But if you don’t want to spend extra money to buy one, this hack is perfect for you!

All you need is using a makeup brush or clean fingers to dab your red or orange (depends on your skin tone) under your eyes. For me, I am using purplish-red because I am medium yellowish skin tone, make sure you find your right lipstick for a more natural finishing!

Color of your lipstick:

Light/Fair Skin: Red with pink undertone
Medium Skin: Purplish red
Dark Skin: Coral/orangey-red

After applying the red pigment, wait at least 10 seconds before you apply your eye concealer on. Please remember to cover the red layer completely! By then, you should realize this looks way better than just apply concealer solely! With putting on some finishing power, you are good to go!

If this is the first time you know about this hack, if may doubt it but please try it once, this really works! One little reminder, please don’t apply too much red like what you normally apply on your lips, that will be a disaster. What I mean is dap some red and gently blend it out.

2. Combine Mascara and Powder for Fuller Lashes

If you don’t wear fake eyelashes, probably you are using mascara in your daily life, but have you to this little magic thing in it’s full potential? With combing mascara and makeup powder, your eyelashes can have a huge difference.

STEP 1: Apply first coat of mascara

After washing your face and applying the base, we can curl our eyelashes like we normally do. I always heat my eyelash curler with my hairdryer for 2 -3 seconds before applying to my eyelashes because this can always avoid my eyelashes drop in the middle of the day. But if you want to apply this little hack, please remember DON’T DIRECTLY USE THE CURLER right after it’s heated, it can hurt your eyes and it’s pain! (I have some bad experience when I first trying this hack). You have to wait for at least 10 seconds and test the temperature of the curler with your finger. If it’s warm instead of hot, it’s good to go.

STEP 2: Pump up the volume.

It’s time to pump up the volume with power. You can use a small and fluffy clean brush to apply a thin layer of translucent powder to your eyelashes. Please remember to use the translucent one, otherwise, it will be so tiring for you to cover all the power in step 3. Beware of the amount of the power you use too, it will look so clumpy if you apply too much.

Step 3: Finish it off with another coat

Cover up that dustiness with another coat of black mascara and YOU ARE GO TO GO!

If you look at the mirror, you should now have thicker looking eyelashes!

3. Ice Your Face

This is a new hack I know in 2020, I just somehow haven’t heard people talking about this hack for my past 24 years (can’t believe it…)

Applying ice is a creative way for facial therapy and I can see why this is getting popular these days.

According to Healthline, some potential benefits of applying ice on the face including:

  • Eliminate puffiness, especially around the eyes
  • reduce the overall oiliness of your face
  • alleviate and calm acne
  • soothe sunburn
  • reduce swelling and inflammation, including rashes and insect bites
  • reduce signs of aging, such as wrinkles (It’s huge)
  • maintain a glowy face

Facial skin icing is a natural, non-chemically way to glow up your face without wearing make up.

If you wonder how to do the ice facial, here’s the Youtube video. The before and after video is always so convincing!

Just a little reminder like what the video said, not everyone is suitable for this ice facial after all every girl has different types of skin. Someone may burn their skin with ice facial, the main reason is that they don’t leave the ice cubes out of the fridge for at least 2 minutes. It will get way better to apply the ice cubes on your face when you can see these ice cubes start to melt a bit – That’s the perfect timing!

By the way, if you are from the US, remember to type “40SNOWUS” if you buy Shein clothes to save $40 here! In my Shein report, I saw many of you forget to type that code before purchase and I was that “Why girl? Why waste the money”?

4. Mix face oil with foundation

Level your foundation game with mixing some light oil!

This is another new trick learn from Youtube in 2020 (Youtube can be educational during quarantine LOL)

Nothing trick, all you need to mix your face oil with your foundation. A little reminder is that please don’t add the oil with heavy texture, you don’t want to leave our skin greasy. Leave your coconut oil for self-care time and use some light beauty oil instead. With just a tiny drop of oil, the finishing will be more youthful with a healthy nice glowing without feeling too healthy!

If you are dry skin, mixing few drops of oil can keep your face moisturized too.

But if you are the oily skin type, I’m not sure will this method be too heavy for your skin. But I guess we all need some trials before finding the right proportion of oil for getting this trick right 🙂


5. Don’t wash your hair everyday

Besides the girls that have oily scalp and one who workout daily, we actually don’t have the necessity to wash our hair everyday.

Alli Webb, the professional hairstylist and the founder of Drybar suggested that it’s totally okay to go a few days without shampooing, The reason being is shampoo wash away the oils, so if you do it daily, you are drying your hair out and leaving it vulnerable to breakage and split ends.

Hair produces a natural oil called sebum and they provide moisturizing and a protective barrier for our hair, it’s totally beneficial to keep them and that makes our hair looks stronger and healthier in long term.

For me, I usually wash my hair every two days and I do think it’s better than washing it daily (Despite the fact that it’s really time-consuming). But honestly, some of my girlfriends still wash their hair daily because they just can’t stand with their oily scalp. So it really depends.

6. Use cacao power as dry shampoo

So here’s the Tip 5! A solution to tip 4! I feel kind of satisfied when I found out this tip from Youtube because it’s a creative and most importantly, it’s natural!

Yes, it’s true that dry shampoo is so common these days and every girl got one but we should always, always aware of the chemicals in the dry shampoo because it can be really dangerous in the long term.

Here are some potential chemicals we want to avoid for most of the dry shampoo:

1. Talc

While talc is still considered as a main ingredients for the dry shampoo, it’s not really a “safe” ingredient at all. According to American Cancer Society, The use of talc has been linked to cancer

2. LPG’s (Liquid Petroleum Gas) Butane, Propane & Isobutane

3. Phenoxyethanol

4. Cetrimonium Chloride

5. Alcohol

6. Siloxane, Silicones & Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane

Besides cacao powder, some other natural alternatives are rice, charcoal or bamboo powders.

How to DIY your own cocao dry shampoo?


1/8 cup of cornstarch

1/8 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (Unsweetened is the key here)

1/8 cup of cinnamon

4 drops of scented essential oils

Mixed them up and you are done!

In fact, it’s not that hard for us to make our own dry shampoo without including any of the artificial chemicals. All you need to apply the dry shampoo with your makeup brush and focusing on the roots to maximize the effect!

7. Use Scrunchies & Spring Hair Ties

If you always have ponytails on and you’re still using the traditional plastic elastic, it’s time for you to upgrade!

Here are 3 reasons:

  1. Lessen your chance of headache: These scrunchies and spring hair ties aren’t as tight as traditional elastics, we can finally have our ponytail on the straight half day without the ponytail headaches!
  2. More room of styling: They are prettier (in my personal opinion) and it gives us a room for style the hair ties! I will usually go for the colorful dark pink spiral hair ties when I was wearing my pink yoga outfit that day, looks good!
  3. Less hair damage: The clever coil-design locks the ponytail or bun into place rather than pulling it with pressure, it definitely lessens the chance of damaging your hair!

It’s easy for us to forget but skin is the human body’s largest organ (Don’t be too shocked). In other words, what you eat will really show up on the skin. You may feel annoyed when some one remind you to drink 8 glasses of water daily, but as much as you don’t want to admit, this is one of the most powerful beauty tips. Below, I want to remind you girls the essential nutrients we should consume!

8. Consume foods High in Antioxidants

Despite the fact that this type of food can help protect against cancer and heart disease, most of them like blueberries can help protect our cells from damage and lower the inflammation, in other words, slower the skin aging process, which is huge.

Other antioxidant-rich foods:

  1. Pecans
  2. Artichokes
  3. Goji Berries
  4. Raspberries
  5. Kale
  6. Red Cabbage
  7. Beans

9. Eat fat!

Don’t panic. I am saying the healthy fat here.

Some of the good sources of fat including:

  • Olive, canola, peanut, and sesame oils
  • Avocados (big big love)
  • Olives
  • Nuts (almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, pecans, cashews)
  • Fatty fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines) and fish oil
  • Soybean and safflower oil
  • Soymilk (Don’t drink too much if you have PCOS)
  • Tofu

What are the benefits of healthy fats?

  1. Glowing hair and skins: Many of the healthy fats including nutrients like Omega-3, Vitamin E, and more, help you maintain a moisturizing and hydrating the skin. When fat is limited in the body’s consumption, hair and skin will lose its healthy glow. Especially for teenage girls, healthy fat is really crucial during your puberty time!
  2. Fat is good for weight loss: While it may be hard to comprehend, the food labeled as low-fat can be a big trap because the fat is always replaced by sugar and other chemicals, which is worse. The calories of food can be way higher than healthy fat food.

10. Drink coffee at a moderate level

Alright, we all LOVE COFFEE, but the truth is coffee can age you. (That escalate really fast LOL)

I think it’s an endless debate for the topic: Is drinking coffee good for your skin? Or vice versa?

To be honest, I don’t have a definite answer after having research on this question.  Some say coffee is good for your skin because of its antioxidant properties, while some say Caffeine will deplete the moisture of your body. For both sides they have the scientific paper, so I am really confused.

But it’s true that for some girls, drinking coffee and any caffeinated drinks will make their skin looks dull and aged. This may not apply to everyone but it seems some of you will be more reactive to caffeine. It’s true that caffeine can excrete fluid and deplete your body of moisture, which apparently includes the skins. With dehydrated skin, all the skincare and makeup products just not work anymore.

When it comes to caffeine, balancing is the key. A cup of coffee per day in my opinion is totally fine. It will be better without adding any sugar and milk (The calories are unbelievably high). If you happened to have a very hectic day and drink a lot of caffeine, remember to stay hydrated by drinking more water to balance it out!

For me, I don’t really drink coffee these days and I changed to green tea. I feel so refreshed and the level of caffeine is much lower than coffee so I don’t have to worry too much.
