5 DIY Natural easy face mask for ultimate skin care!

Ever since I learn how to DIY my mask, I genuinely feel 10% happier in life! I always treat skincare as one big part of my self-care routine and nothing feels more soothing than DIY the face mask to pamper my skin. This is way cheaper and more natural than buying big brands. I am really glad that DIY our won mask is becoming a trend these days and here are the 10 face masks that I’ve been loving to make from time to time. No worries, as a big believer of less is more, all the ingredients and steps are so simple! After all, when it comes to skincare, it’s the result that matters! Enjoy!

1. DIY Rice face toner for skin brightening

If you have Acne problem and you have tried numerous attempts to kill it but still in vain, you should try rice water! Rice water is the most natural way when it comes to skin brightening.

What you need:

A cup of water and a cup of rice

What is it good for?

Rice water is beneficial to our skin because it’s full of minerals and amino acids, including ferulic acid. Ferulic acid is a strong antioxidant that contains anti-inflammatory properties. Besides skin brightening, rice water contains vitamins B1, C, and E and that can shrink pores and soften the skin. So yes, rice water can heal and soothe the ashes, acnes, and inflammation.

Steps for DIY rice face toner:

Step 1: Put both rice and water into a big bowl, swirl the rice to remove the dirt and strain of the rice surface first. Repeat this for 1-2 times. (So you aren’t gonna use the rice water for the first few times of your stirring because it is dirty)

Step 2: Rub the rice gently with hands (or stir it again) to release the vitamin and mineral content into the water.

Step 3: Let it sit for 1-2 hours

Step 4: Use a sifter to separate the rice and water and put it into a glass jar

Yes, no need to doubt, it is that easy! (I can’t really handle complicated things…) When it comes to making rice toner, there are countless ways on youtube so feel free to explore! I use it as a regular toner and gently pat the rice water on my face for 2-3 minutes.

Reminder: For many people don’t know, always use a wooden spoon to stir the water because metal can destroy the combination of the nutrients!

2. DIY Avocados Honey Face mask for soft and glowing skin

I love love love this mask because both avocado and honey are my favourite food! It feels so good and satisfying to put them on the skin, I was always amazed how soft and glowy my skin turn into!

What you need?

Half of the avocado and 1 1/2 tsp of raw honey

What is it good for?

Avocados: Packed with rich vitamin E, healthy fats, and antioxidants, it helps to smoothen and brighten up our skin. Also, Avocados are moisturizing and nourishing because they contain naturally good fats and oils, which include the amazing monounsaturated fatty acids to moisturize our skin.

Honey: Raw Honey helps balance the bacteria on your skin and it is known to healing the acne and calming inflammation. Honey also speeds up the skin cells’ healing processes and that is truly amazing for glowing skin!

Steps for DIY:

  1. Mix the ingredients together in a bowl until it’s smooth (From my experience, this process should be within 3-5 minutes)
  2. Apply to face to 10 – 20 minutes
  3. Remove it with warm water and you’re done!

All I can say is my face feels so refreshed and I feel like it’s more absorbable when I apply the night cream afterwards! So ladies, please try this and you will be amazed!

Reminder: When I first tried DIY this mask, I use the whole avocado, and turns out I don’t need that much at all for a face! So I guess using half is fine for most of us. I hope these little tips help!

3. DIY Turmeric Face mask for lightening inner thighs and buttocks

I am not gonna lie but dark inner thighs and buttocks have once been one of my biggest insecurities of all time. Whenever I scroll Instagram and see those girls with flawless buttocks, I can’t help but wonder is that just me bothering by this annoying thing? But luckily, I realized I am definitely not alone because many girls recommend this turmeric face mask and it works wonder for me! I have to spread this information to you girls so you can get rid of this unnecessary insecurity! But it’s all about consistency, you can’t expect to apply it one time and the dark spots are gone overnight! After skincare is all about consistency!

What you need?

Turmeric powder, lemon juice, water and unsweetened yogurt

What is it good for?

Turmeric powder: Turmeric itself is a superfood and it’s known as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. A study in 2018 revealed that a turmeric-extract lotion reduced hyper-pigmentation up to 14 percent after a month of use, so yes, it can certainly reduce the dark spot on the skin.

Lemon: Lemon juice is rich is Vitamin C and that can lighten our skin by reducing the melanin, a substance that create dark spot in our bodies.

Yogurt: Yogurt help tighten, soften and lighten your skin because it contains lactic acid, a substance that aids in diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by shrinking pores.

With these three ingredients, in no way you can’t diminish the dark spots!

Steps for DIY:

Step 1: Mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of water and 1/2 of unsweetened yogurt together in a bowl

Step 2: Apply gently on the face for 20 minutes and you are done!

Reminder:

Turmeric is very pigmented so don’t freak out when you see your face is a bit yellowish after you remove the mask. All you need to do is using the cleanser to clean it thoroughly again and you will be fine! I highly suggest you do it in the bathroom because DIY this can be clumsy for the first time!

But it’s so worth it. Simple life changing mask for me!

4. DIY Charcoal face mask for detox your face

I am getting really excited about sharing this face mask because I am addicted to detoxing recently. Every time when I try out this mask, I feel like I reboot my skin to a new level. It’s so soft and clean and somehow my skin tone is more even after doing this for 2 months.

What you need?

What is it good for?

Charcoal powder: Activated charcoal powder is powerful in pulling out the dirt, chemicals and poisons of your skin. It can dirt out the pores and makes it less visible too!

Bentonite Clay: Bentonite is effective in removing the oil and dirt from the skin and it is effective in treating acne as well!

Honey: Raw Honey helps balance the bacteria on your skin and it is known to healing the acne and calming inflammation. Honey also speeds up the skin cells’ healing processes and that is truly amazing for glowing skin!

Jojoba oil: Jojoba oil is packed with antioxidants and essential fatty acids to moisturize skin. With the anti-inflammatory and healing properties, jojoba oil is wonderful in addressing the dryness, flaking, itching of the skin as well!

Steps for DIY:

Step 1: Mix charcoal powder, bentonite clay, honey, jojoba oil and water together in a big bowl

Step 2: Apply to your face for around 10-15 minutes

Step 3: Continue with your daily routine and you should have a smooth skin free of impruities!

Reminder: 15 minutes are more than enough! Some girls ( me included ) thought it will be more effective if I do the facial longer, but it can hurt your skin! After all, charcoal is a cleaning substance and it shouldn’t stay for too long.

5. Indian Healing Clay for simply… everything!

I know it’s not necessarily a DIY mask but I feel the urge to tell people about this mask! ( I know many of you already using this so feel free to skip.) But in case you haven’t, you probably want one because it’s so multifunctional and it does wonder to my skin!

What is Indian Healing clay?

This is an All-Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay is a  is a deep pore cleansing facial, hair and body mask made in Death Valley, California and basically it’s great for everything, including facials, body wraps, clay baths, foot soaks, chilled clay knee packs, hair masks, insect bites and more! This clay mask was such a hit in 2018 ( More than 20,000 reviews on Amazon and 71% give a 5-star rating …that’s a really high achievement ) but I haven’t tried that out because this packaging looks a bit weird to me. When I try it, I definitely hate myself for not trying this earlier!

Reminder: Do not leave clay mask on skin longer than 5-10 mins for sensitive skin; this will reduce redness/drying. Slight redness of the skin is normal and will usually disappear in about 30 mins so no worries, their ingredients are natural!

So here are the five amazing masks I wanted to share with you! Which one is the one you want to try it out? My favorite is definitely the turmeric mask and the Indian healing clay but honestly, all five are so soothing and healing to do. To be honest, I always feel more fulfilled to recommended DIY skincare products than the big brand products because I love the fact that we are using way less money for great skin! The process of making face masks is always heeling and bring me back to the present moment so this is not laborious for me to do this at all.
